Norfolk Southern Trains - CP Harrisburg October 6, 2007: NS 852, 25R, and detour 111 head through CP Harrisburg on a foggy morning. NS 852 eastbound with Conrail SD70 2580 and Conrail Dash-8-40C NS 8308. Next is 25R's light engine NS SD70M 2590 into the intermodal terminal. There are only 10 non-notch cab SD70M's on NS' roster. Next is a REALLY long 'detour' NS 111. Power is Dash-8-40C 8695, Dash-8E-39C 8677, and NS Dash-9-40CW 9291. The train had around 150 cars, I cut it down into clips.
Location Background: CP Harrisburg is a Junction of Amtrak and Norfolk Southern, the tracks in the foreground is where the Amtrak starts, the station is a few blocks down, somewhat visible in this video. CP Harrisburg is in downtown Harrisburg, capitol of Pennsylvania. Speaking of the capitol, the Capitol Building is right behind CP Harrisburg, the road bridge in this video is the main northern entrance into the city, the capitol can be seen streight ahead driving into the city. CP Harrisburg is the meeting of the NS Harrisburg Line, and the NS Lurgan and NS Royalton branches connect here. Amtrak's Key Stone corridor connects here as well. The Harrisburg terminal is to the west of this position, which leads to the Rockville Bridge and Enola Yard, to the east is CP Capitol, other interlockings, and eventually a Triple Crown/Intermodal terminal in Rutherford.
